More About Quail Run Horse Centre

QRsignQuail Run Horse Centre is a family owned and operated equestrian facility located in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Resting on 250 acres of beautiful trail covered property; Quail Run provides the ideal setting for the equestrian lifestyle.

In the spring of 1982, founders Jim and Patrice Urban rented a small barn at a local facility and started a lesson program. Then known as the Northern Hills Riding Academy, the business quickly grew due to Jims classical philosophy and laid back teaching style, as well as the behind the scenes efforts of his wife Patrice. It wasnt long before the business had outgrown its location.

On January 15, 1987 the new facility, located in Elkhorn, Nebraska, opened under the new name of the Quail Run Horse Centre, Inc. It was here that the business flourished, and evolved into what it is today.

Today Jim and Patrice are assisted by their three sons. Their eldest son Dan returned from college to become a professional rider and trainer, handling a number of training rides and lessons. Their youngest son Tom has taken over the managerial duties of the facility, which includes daily care of the horses, and general maintenance. Their middle son Mike lends a helping hand when he returns home from working for the management at horse shows around the country. Also joining the team is professional rider and trainer Dannee Risler-Charlesworth, trainer and instructor Kelly Parisi, as well as a crew to help with facility maintenance and several volunteers.

Angies Bio:

Angie "Irwin" Connor took her first riding lesson at Quail Run in 1990.  During her time as a student at Quail Run she showed a great interest and determination and was given the opportunity to be a working student at QR throughout her Junior High and High School years.

As a Junior rider, she had many successes in the Junior Hunters, the Equitation Medals, the Junior/AO Jumpers, and even a few smaller Grand Prixs.  All these accomplishments took place on her thoroughbred "All That Jazz", a horse she bought as a 4 year old and brought along herself.  With "Jazz", she had the privelege of representing Zone 6 in 1998 and 1999 at the National Junior Jumper Finals and Prix des States in Harrisburg, PA.

At the age of 18, Angie turned professional, and began riding and teaching for Quail Run.  Part of her duties at that time were to teach a horseback riding PE class through Creighton University.  While teaching one of those classes, Angie met her now husband Sean Connor.  The pair have been married since 2005, and they recently welcomed their first child in June of 2013.

After living away from Omaha since 2006, Angie is very excited to be coming home to continue pursuing her passion of riding and teaching riders of all ages and levels.
